Santa

For my last layout for the 2013 52 Week Challenge at Scrappin'-n-Chattin, I wanted to use some photos I took of the dogs this year with a Santa figurine.  The current sketch at Let's Scrap was just the ticket.

I only wanted to use the Santa photos, and I didn't quite have enough to fill all the spots in the sketch.  But the extra spaces worked well for journaling and added embellishments.

Here's a closer look at the first page....

And the 2nd page.  The puppy is almost 4 1/2 months old.  She is starting to listen better and is posing much better.

This was my 3rd year doing the 52 Week Challenge at SnC.  I had to use 2 passes this, which I am a little disappointed with.  It's been a real tough year though, and I am very happy that I was able to complete the challenge.

This page is being entered into a few other challenges as well:
Lasting Memories - Here Comes Santa Claus
Frosted Designs - My Favorite Things

Raindrops on ROSES and whiskers on kittens,
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen MITTENS;
BROWN PAPER  packages tied up with STRINGS;
These are a few of my favorite things.

CREAM-COLORED ponies and crisp APPLE strudels;
Doorbells and sleigh BELLS and schnitzel with noodles;
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their WINGS;
These are a few of my favorite things.
Girls in white dresses with BLUE SATIN sashes;
SNOWFLAKES that stay on my nose and eyelashes;
SILVER-WHITE winters that melt into springs;
These are a few of my favorite things.

When the dog bites,When the bee stings,
When I'm feeling sad,
I simply remember my FAVORITE things,
And then I don't feel so bad.

 I used String on the 2 buttons (one on each page)
Cream-Colored cardstock was used as photo mats and journaling boxes.
There are Wings on the bird on the button on the left page (very hard to see I know)
And there are Snowflakes on one of the embellishment squares on the 1st page.

Thank you for stopping by.  This weekend is my last dog event for several months.  I hope to be a crafting fool very soon.

My October Page

I found that I forgot to blog about completing my October calendar page....

For this one, I used the current sketch at Boys Rule.  It was a very versatile sketch and I think it works well for a calendar page...

And my page....

My February Page

Well, I didn't get very far on our calendars.  I have 1 more page to share for now.  I am hoping to get some more done at the end of the week, and the 1st weekend in January.....

I got my February page done.  I used this month's sketch at Artful Delight -  http://artfuldelight.blogspot.com/2013/12/december-1st-kit-reveal-and-new-sketch.htmlt .  I always love to use their sketches...

And here's my page....

Wow

I created my first Christmas layout of the year.  On the way home from a dog show, we saw an awesomely lit tree.  We went to get a closer look and found it to be at the Montgomery Library.  It was gorgeous....

I created my page with a photo of this tree I took on my phone.  I used Creative Scrappers, Sketch #257 for the page.

And here's my page....

I am also entering this page at:

Stew's October Page

I have started making our calendars for next year.  I first created a calendar for Stew for his office.  I loved it so much, the next year I made one for my office too.  And last year I added one for our family calendar at home.  I find it a little stressful trying to choose the perfect photos for each page, and find the perfect, yet different design for each page.  I am hoping to be productive enough that the calendars will be ready for January 1st....

I created Stew's October page last Friday for my 52 Week Challenge layout for Scrappin'-n-Chattin'.  I used the wonderful Sketch #57 from My Scraps & More Sketches Blog.

And here's is page...  October is the month we brought our new puppy home, so she is the subject of our October pages.  Such a pretty girl.

Thanks for looking.  Wish me luck getting the calendars done this year.  Check back to check my progress.

Helping

I am still trying to create a page a week with Scrappin'-n- Chattin'.  I have had to use 2 passes so far this year, but I am still in the game.

For my page Week 45 page, I used the November sketch at Artful Delight.  I have really missed keeping up with challenges and Artful Delight was always one of my favorites.  The sketch this month is so versatile.

My page was created using an old Artful Delight kit.  I love all the elements and the colors were perfect for a fall page.  The photo is of our new puppy, Cinda.  I was away at show with our other 3 dogs, and Cinda stayed home with Daddy.  He was stacking wood for my scrap room.

Thanks for looking....

Halloween 2013

I can't believe I didn't blog in September or October.  I did create quite a number of pages following sketches and challenges, but just never was able to actually get the blog post done.

I really want to get better about blogging.  So that's what I am going to try to do this month.  I created my 52 Week layout for Scrappin'-n-Chattin' last night.  I'm still waiting until the last day to get my page done.  And my room is still a wreck.  But at least I am still creating something every week.

For this week's page I wanted to create a double page spread.  I have been taking quite a few photos of the dogs for Halloween.  I wanted something that had a larger number of photos on it.  I loved this week's sketch from Let's Scrap, but there really wasn't a lot of photos on it.

I tweaked the spread a little bit to add more photos.  I used the right page twice, in a mirror image.  Here's my layout....

Sorry for the poor quality photo.  I didn't finish until 10pm last night and didn't have the time to get a really decent photo.  Here is a closer look at each page...

I found that I am really light in Halloween paper and embellishments.  I will have to fix that.  Thanks so much for looking.

A Sympathy Card

I created my 52 Weeks Card today for Scrappin'-n-Chattin'.  I'm pretty surprised I have been able to keep up with this challenge.  It's week 35 and I haven't used any passes yet.  It's been pretty challenging to create a page and a card each and every week.  But I am loving making sure to take the time to create each week.

The challenge was to create a sympathy card.  I'm not sure I have ever created a sympathy card.  If I have, it's only been one.  To create this card I used the current sketch at My Favorite Things.  The mailman brought a package to the door today.  It was some dies I had ordered from MFT.  So I used one set to create my card....  Here's the sketch....

And my card.....

I used washi tape in the corner under the button.  This allowed me to also enter this card into the monthly card challenge at SnC, for using washi tape.

Thanks for looking.

Week 29 Page 2

I have a 5 day weekend this weekend.  It's feels pretty good.  I have a 3 day dog show, but had no plans today or Monday, so it's been nice.  Hopefully Monday we will be going on a bike ride.  I got a new bike a couple of weeks ago and haven't ridden it yet.

I took the free time today to get my 52 Weeks projects done for Scrappin'-n-Chattin'.  For my layout, I finally finished my Week 29 Project Life page.  This first attempt at PL has caused me a little bit of stress, but I really love the whole concept.  I just have to get organized and jump right in.  One of my dogs is working on his championship in one of the agility venues we trial in.  I think once he gets it I will slow down a bit and spend more time at home.  Once I get my room cleaned and organized, I will be better prepared to document the day to day events in our lives.

As luck would have it, in Week 29 we attended a food truck festival.  This fit perfectly for the current challenge at Week-2-Week.  The challenge challenge is to include a food photo...  I love this site.  Sandi and Suzanne have provided so much inspiration to me in this Project Life journey.  Here's my page....

The bottom row is all about the festival.  Photos of some of the truck and some of the crowd.  We had reuben sandwiches.  It was the first time Stew ever had a reuben.  He loved it.  There's another food truck festival in September.  This time it's being held at a large facility.  It should be much better.  We plan to go to that one too.

Thanks for stopping by.  Be sure to check out Week-2-Week for some awesome inspiration and challenges to jump start your Project Life projects.

Week 34 Card

For my 52 Week Card this week, I created a birthday card covering a few different challenges.  The challenge for the 52 Week Card Challenge at Scrappin'-n-Chattin' was to use torn paper.  I almost forgot about this part, but I was able to get it included....

To start, I found a cool sketch to get me going...  I used Card Sketch #7 from Sketch-n-Scrap.  I really loved it!!

..

I also used the current challenge at Cardz TV for color inspiration.  The challenge is to use black and white, and a splash of yellow.  And here's my card....

I am also entering this card into the current Frosted Designs challenge, which is to use chipboard.  My yellow flower is made of chipboard.

Thanks for looking.

The Pond

I created my 52 Weeks layout on Friday again, but didn't have time to create a blog post about it until now.  I used another photo from our adventures playing in the pond area at Sugar Bush Farm a few weeks ago.  This photo is of all 3 dogs in front of the pond.  It was quite difficult to get the 3 of them to sit still long enough to get a shot.  There was so much going on and they really wanted to play.

To create my page, I used Sketch #41 from My Scraps and More Sketches.  The sketch has 2 photos, but I used just one.  I loved the arrows on this sketch and really wanted to use some washi tape in these areas.

And here's my page....

1 Happy Boy

I created my layout for the 52 Week Challenge at Scrappin'-n-Chattin' tonight.  I have made a page every week for 137 weeks in a row.  Wow....

My friend Theresa is on the design team at Sketch~N~Scrap.  Their new challenge was revealed yesterday and I LOVE the sketch.  Theresa's page is awesome too...

The photos I chose for my page were from this past weekend.  We were at an agility trial at a site called Sugar Bush Farm in Stephentown, NY.  We have been there many times.  The site is beautiful, located between the Catskill and Berkshire Mountains.  They have a fenced in pond area that dogs are allowed to play in, but to be in the area they must be off leash. My dogs are leery of other dogs.  In the beginning of July I took just Willie into this area with our trainer and one of her dogs.  He did very well.  This weekend, I took Willie and Tessa on Saturday.  They were great.  Willie even made friends with the judge's dog.  Sunday we took all 3 in there.  They were great.  I took lots of pictures and was so happy to see Willie was having such a great time.  He had a nice big smile.

I am also using this layout in the SnC monthly challenge to use a number in the title.

Polka Dot Card

This year I am participating in a 52 Week Card Challenge at Scrappin'-n-Chattin'.  Each week Rhoda, the hostess, gives us a prompt to follow and we must create the card following the prompt.  This week's prompt was a color inspiration challenge.  We got to choose our color inspiration.

I love the colors red and brown together.  Those are the colors we have in our bedroom, so I used the comforter as inspiration for my card this week.

To create my card, I wanted to use the current sketch from Artful Delight.  It's been so long since I've been able to play with one of her sketches, and I was very happy to be playing with one again.

And my card.  I also entered this card into SnC's monthly card challenge to use polka dot paper.

Thanks for stopping by.

Cooling Off

OK.  Back to pages about the dogs.

I did a page of the doggies cooling off in the creek in our backyard.  The photos were taken a couple of weeks ago, in the middle of yet another heat wave in our area.  I had walked the dogs down there to take some photos.  My Willie didn't want to get in, but he sure was cute.

I used Sketch #38 at My Scraps & More Sketches blog.  It worked well for photos of each of my dogs.

And my colorful page.....

I am also entering this page into the current challenge at Frosted Designs.  Their Fabulous Friday Challenge is the Great Outdoors.

Thanks for stopping by...

Moving On

It's been a rare month for me this month.  Most of the pages that I create have dogs as the subject.  There were a few pages this month that were about my children.

All of my boys still live close.  We get together for everyone's birthdays and all holidays, and several other occasions throughout the year.  My oldest son, just weeks before his 30th birthday changed jobs and moved out of the state.  We are very proud of him for being brave enough to take such a big step, but I'm missing have everyone close buy.

In his new job, they had an all company gathering the week after he started.  There were employees from all over the world.  He was a part of a photo with his whole department together.  Of course I nabbed it, off of Facebook again.

I used Sketch #36 at My Scraps & More Sketches blog.  I really enjoyed using their sketches this month.

And here's my page....

Thanks for looking.

To Afghanistan

This month I have been enjoying using sketches at My Scraps & More Sketches blog.  I have used a few in the past, but I'm not sure that I entered them.

My youngest son has started his 2nd deployment this month, this time in Afghanistan.  A photo of the NY group that went on this mission was posted on Facebook and of course I nabbed it.  I thought that the My Scraps & More Sketch #37 would work well for this photo.

I rotated the photo area to fit my photo.  This will be added to David's Air Force book.

Thanks for looking.

My First Project Life Page

My friends at Scrappin'-n-Chattin' have been giving Project Life a try this year.  I have loved the creativity and the whole concept behind PL.  At this point in time, I can't keep up with doing a spread like this weekly, but I did kind of enjoy jumping on the bandwagon and giving it a try.

Two of my scrappin' friends started a new challenge site specifically for Project Life type pages.  Sandi and Suzanne are so talented and I have studied their pages intently trying to get this page done.  Week--2-Week has so much inspiration and really helped to push me to give it a try.  The current challenge was a sketch for a title card.  It really helped to get me started on my page.

Here's my title card.....

And my first page....  I decided to have my weeks Saturday through Friday.  The page is Week 29, July 13th - July 19th.  I am doing double page spreads for each week, so this page encompasses Saturday through Tuesday.  I am hoping to get the 2nd page done tomorrow.

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my page.  Everyone should stop by Week--2--Week and check out the wonderful inspiration that Suzanne and Sandi provide.

A Birthday Card

In addition to participating in the 52 Week Layout Challenge at Scrappin'-n-Chattin', I am also joining the 52 Week Card Challenge.

When I chose my sketch for my layout, I also loved the sketch offered for the card.  This is at Pamela's World of Scrap.  The sketches were just awesome!!

And my card.....

The prompt for the card this week at SnC was to add sparkle.  I added some shiny gems.  And the DCWV Celebrations paper is glittery.  This will be for one of the kids that works in my department.  His birthday is in a couple of week.

Thanks for looking.  Enjoy your weekend.

Opposite

Tonight I made a page for the 52 Week Challenge at Scrappin'-n-Chattin'.  I've gotten into the bad habit of creating my layout on the last day of the week.  At least this week, I was thinking about the layout most of the week and even had the journaling figured out ahead of time.

I have so wanted to join in a Lasting Memories challenge.  I have missed blogging and joining challenges, especially at LM.  This week the challenge is about Opposites.  Well I can do a page about this.....

And while trying to find a sketch to use, I found one that I absolutely LOVED!!  This sketch is from Pamela's World of Scrap.  I love that she offers a sketch for a single page layout, a double page layout and a card.

And here's my page.....

The subjects are my dogs Harley and Tessa.  Definitely opposites, but they love each other.   They are so fun to watch playing together.

Thanks for stopping by.

Hello Spring

I followed several challenges to create my Week 18 page for the 52 Week Challenge at Scrappin'-n-Chattin' I had planned a page about our last agility trial, but I was not able to get the photos yet.  The photographer is away at another trial.  Maybe next week.

I really wanted to join the challenge at Lasting Memories.  It's been so long since I've been able to play along with their challenges since I was creating calendar pages for so long, so that was my starting point for figuring out what to create.  Their challenge this week is called "Seasons Change".  And as I was looking through some of the photos I've taken this year, I found the perfect set for this subject.

Of course I needed a sketch.  And Scrap It Girl has a sketch challenge this month.  It's an extremely versatile sketch, so I was excited to give it a try.

And Let's Get Sketchy has "A Little Something" this week.  Since Monday was the 5th one of the month, there is a special challenge.  You can choose a sketch from any site and combine that with one of your favorite color combinations.  Well, I love using red along with several other primary colors.  The photos I chose feature a red tulip, so the color combo worked perfectly.  Here's my page.

I also entered this page into the monthly challenge at SnC to include a quote on your page.  My quote is written on the green strip on the left side of the paper.  It reads:   'Spring is nature's way of saying, "Let's Party!"  ~  Robin Williams.'

I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend.  Thanks for looking.

Happy Birthday Card

This year I am still participating the 52 Week Challenge at Scrappin'-n-Chattin'.  The challenge is to create a layout a week.  This is my 3rd year.  In addition to the layout challenge, we also have a card challenge this year.  I am trying this as well.

For my Week 18 card, I created a birthday card.  At SnC there is also a recipe for the weekly cards.  The requirement for the week was to use at least 3 brads on the card.

I used the current sketch from Seems A Little Sketchy to create my card.  I really love using these sketches.

And here's my card.  Pretty simple, but I like it.

I have a rare day at home today, on National Scrapbook Day.  I don't think I will have time to do any crafting, but hopefully get a lot done.  Have a great day and thanks for looking.

Happy Birthday

Wow....  It's been over 2 months since I last did a blog post.  It's been pretty busy around here.

I created a card tonight for the 52 Week Card Challenge at Scrappin'-n-Chattin'.  To create my card I used the current sketch at The Sweet Stop.  I really loved this sketch.

And here is my take.

Thanks for looking.  Enjoy your weekend.

My March Page

Now for the final page for my calendar....  my March page.  I used the February Sketch Challenge at Boys Rule.

I really wish I had some arrows....  I looked and looked and I just don't have any.  It's really difficult to see, but I substituted some gems for the arrows.

For the photo for this month, I wanted to use a photo of all 3 dogs together.  It's difficult to get a decent one.  This was taken shortly after Tessa was spayed.  She had to wear that collar to keep her from chewing at the stitches.

So now 2 down and 1 to go...  I have to finish the calendar for the house.  I have 1 page done.  Only 11 more to go!!  Thanks for looking.
