Birthday Sundaes Guest Designer Week

Good Sunday morning. I hope everyone on the east coast survived the snow storm. We lost our cable/internet about 6:30 last night and the power sometime between 9:00 and 10:00. The power came back on just before midnight. We we got up we had the cable and internet back too. We didn't get hit too bad. We only have about 3" of snow on the ground.

So, this week at Birthday Sundaes Kristie gave the design team a week off. This was so nice of her. I know I have been having a rough time in real life, and I know some of the other dt members can appreciate a week off too.

Even though we have the week off, the challenge continues. We have 7 guest designers who will provide your inspiration this week. The challenge this week is to create a birthday card. Really simple, right. Just be sure to include a birthday sentiment on the front of the card.

Check out the guest designers' blogs. Here is the complete list:

The Train

Today at Scrappin'-n-Chattin' we are having the 24 Hour Challenge. Actually it started at 6pm, last night. We provide the name of 3 paper collections that we have. The host of the challenge, my friend April picks 3 sketches. Then April will assign someone who is in the challenge to pick which sketch and paper collection another participant will use.

My friend Kristie made the choices for me. She chose Sketch #2, which was a sketch from October Afternoon from 9/08/2011 and the collection The Steadfast Tin Soldier from Piggy Tails.

Since the collection is predominantly train related, I decided to use a couple of photos of Willie that I clicked in the car. He had his first experience with a train earlier this year on the way to an agility class. I couldn't grab my camera in time to capture that moment. But a few days later, on the way home, we ran into another train. I was able to get the camera out and capture a couple of photos of him watching the train go by.

The photo of the layout is not that great. I have to hurry. We are in the snowstorm right now and the lights are really flickering, so I am trying to get this done before we loose power. Everything on the page was from the collection except the Thickers I used for the title and the W in the circle, the bling on the left photo and between the trains on the border on the top of the page, and the train punched border at the bottom of the page. The punched border came from a border swap we at at SnC. It was punched by my friend Melissa. I had been waiting to use it with these photos. Glad I finally was able to use it.

Since I was able to incorporate some bling into this layout, I am going to enter it into this week's challenge at Lasting Memories, which is to include bling on your page.

I hope everyone is save and warm this evening. I hope we don't loose power, but I don't think that is likely. I have to go finish the laundry and think about dinner. Then I can just wait....

Happy Halloween

Happy Wednesday!! I hope everyone is having a good week so far. It's all down hill from here. I cannot wait for the weekend.

It's time for a new challenge at The Paper Variety. This one is an easy one. Create a Halloween paper project.

And we have an awesome new sponsor this week. Burlap and Buttercups Scrapbook Kit Club is offering our prize.

They are offering their October kit to one lucky, random person who submits a project this week. So many cool items here. Check out the site to see all about this kit and the club.

With all the stress we have going on at work, my mind is not working well. I totally spaced on getting my project for this week in on time to have it included on TPV's post. But I did complete a project and am including it here.

I created a Halloween card for my project. I used some of my scraps from the September Artful Delight kit. I think I will be using every bit of this kit. I totally LOVED this little pumpkin.

I hope you will share a Halloween project with us this week. Head on over to TPV and check out the wonderful projects the design team and guest designer, Kim Johnson, created. Such great inspiration.

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #32

It's Sunday morning and time for a new challenge at Birthday Sundaes. This week's challenge is a color challenge. Create a birthday card with a birthday sentiment and the colors purple, green, white and black. Very seasonal....

This was a bit challenging for me. I couldn't find any papers that had all of these colors alone. So I went with multiple pieces of paper.

I hope you will give the challenge a try. Make sure to check out the wonderful cards the design team created. They all do such beautiful work.

Play?

Page 2 done for the evening.....

This one I completed with 3 challenges in mind.

1. Artful Delight's October Sketch Challenge
2. Paper Lovin' Gals Challenge #2 - Photo Inspiration
3. Scrappin'-n-Chattin's Woodgrain theme for the monthly challenges.

Here is the AD sketch:

This sketch was a little intimidating at first, but I think I found just the right photos to use....

And here is the PLG's photo inspiration:

Such a wonderful, fall photo. I really would have liked to do a page of the kids pumpkin picking, but my scanner was destroyed in the flood. I just got a new one, but I haven't had a chance to hook it up yet. Maybe I will work on that next.

So I chose some photos of Willie and Tessa playing together in the backyard. I tried to get some good action shots of the two of them. But they just move so fast. It's virtually impossible. Most of the playtime photos I have gotten involve Tessa being on the bottom being pounced on. I love the photo I put on top. I had called Willie. He looked at my like - What?

I used some more of my September Artful Delight kit. It's almost all gone now.

Thanks for looking.

You and Me

Since Stew is working 2nd shift this weekend, I am using the time alone to work in the scrap room. I have completed 1 layout so far.

This one is based on this week's sketch at Sketch Inspiration. It's been a while since I have been able to participate at SI. I really like their sketches.

I chose a photo of Pete and Jenna taken at her mom's house earlier this year. I am going to use this layout as my 52 Weeks entry at Scrappin'-n-Chattin'. Finally, I won't be working at the last minute this week.

I am also going to enter this layout into the Wee Memories challenge for this week, which is Free for All. In addition, I am entering this week's sketch challenge at Sketches In Thyme which is and Open Challenge.

Now I'm off to think about another page... I hope everyone is having a scrappy weekend.

Tessie Boo

Well, I waited until the last minute again to make my layout for Scrappin'-n-Chattin's 52 Week Challenge. I really did try to get it done earlier, and I had most of it planned out, but it went together and was uploaded with only 3 hour to spare.

For my page, I followed this month's sketch at SnC, created by my friend Theresa Neubaum. She creates such awesome sketches. I am so excited that she has been creating the sketches for our monthly sketch challenge.

I loved this sketch.....

Of course I wanted to enter TPV's challenge this week, which is my off week. The challenge this week is a recipe...

So much fun. Be sure to check out the design team's inspiration. And there's an awesome prize this week. Scraptastic Club is offering a $20 gift certificate for one lucky entry in this week's challenge.

I am still working hard on getting Tessa to pose for the camera. It's not working real well. She still runs when I point it at her. I got her a Halloween costume and was trying to stage the photo. She would have none of that. I took 25 photos of her, most of them not usable at all. I used a few from the attempted photo shoot to create my layout.

I used a pumpkin brad and a stick pin that Theresa made and gifted me last year in a bottle swap we did at SnC. I have been dying to use the stick pins and I am so glad I finally was able to use one. The flowers and stick pin really are raised off the page, so I am entering this page into this week's challenge at Lasting Memories, which is to add some dimension. I also followed the color challenge at Frosted Designs.

There is still time to enter the challenges at TPV, LM and FD. LM's is due by 9pm on Saturday. I hope everyone has a wonderful, crafty weekend.

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #31

Good Sunday morning. It's been a pretty nice fall weekend here. Trying to catch up on housework, so no scrapping getting done.

It's time for the new challenge at Birthday Sundaes. This is a fun one. The challenge is to create a tall or long birthday card. We have a sponsor this week as well. Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps is offering our prize - 3 digital images of the winner's choice.

SNSS offered a choice of images for the design team to use for our cards this week. Such a tough one to decide which one to use. Make sure to check out all the other great images SNCC has.

I chose the fall arrangement for my card. It was so fun to color this image. It's been a while. I'm going to have to use more images. I used variety shades of brown cardstock from my stash and a piece of paper left from my September Artful Delight kit. I really like how it turned out.

I hope you will give a long or tall card a try this week. Be sure to share with us.

4 Months

I was so disappointed that I was not able to complete a layout for last week's Lasting Memories challenge. It has been so busy and stressful in our house since we found out we lost our contract at work and would have to interview for our jobs with the new company. The new company has taken over and things are quite bumpy.

But, tonight I was able to get a layout completed for this week's challenge. The challenge is to create a page with with a tag(s). Karen also provided a sketch to use if we chose to use it. Check out the details and design team inspiration here.

My layout is based on a photo of Tessa from last month. She is changing almost daily. She is really starting to look like Willie now.

I love that they have long, straight hair. I have cut Willie's around his eyes, so that he can see the jumps and other agility obstacles. The journaling on the tag tells how I don't want to cut Tessa's hair. I am trying to get her used to wearing barrettes to keep her hair out of her eyes. She doesn't like them at all.

I am also using this layout as my entry into the 52 Weeks Challenge at Scrappin'-n-Chattin'. 41 weeks so far. The last couple of weeks I have had to create my page on the last day of the week. I hope I can get my act together and get my pages done earlier soon.

Thanks for looking.

Vacation

Good morning. I hope everyone is having a wonderful week. It's Wednesday, and that means it's time to announce a new challenge at The Paper Variety. The challenge this week is to create a paper project with an ocean theme. We have a wonderful sponsor this week for a random winner. Our sponsor is We Scrap Kits. This is a wonderful Etsy store with some wonderful kits available with some very cool papers and embellishments. Check them out....
When I think of the ocean, or anything nautical, I think of vacation. I decided to use a photo of my nephews playing in the sand in Sarasota on vacation. I used the Sassy Lil' Sketches Send Off Sketch #1 to create a layout. I used Echo Park's Splash collection to create this summery page.

Be sure to check out the awesome, nautical inspired project the design team came up with. I can't wait to see your project.

Good Sunday morning. We are having gorgeous weather here in the northeast. We had Willie's first AKC Trial this weekend. I was very nervous about the whole thing. We had a couple of problems, but Willie is a trooper.

It's time for the new challenge at Birthday Sundaes. In honor of the season, the challenge is to create a birthday card, with the sentiment on the front, with fall colors. Make sure you check out the AWESOME cards the guest designer and the design team came up with.

For my card, I used the Sassy Send Off Sketch #4 from Sassy Lil' Sketches. Another very versatile sketch. I'm really going to miss these sketches.

The card I created is for another of my mechanic's. We have a bunch of birthdays at the beginning of the year, then a bunch at the end. Not so much in the middle. I used some more of my September Artful Delight kit to create the card.

I hope we have inspired you to create a fall theme card. Please be sure to share your creation with us.

Birthday Sundaes Challenge #29

Good Sunday morning. I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. After an extremely stressful several weeks at work, we have now worked our last day with the company that we have worked for for 16 years. On Monday we start with a brand new company. At least we both have jobs. We spent a great day in NYC on Saturday, seeing Zarkana and eating at Chipotle. We also stopped at Cold Stone Creamery once we made it back to Poughkeepsie. It was a wonderful day.

It's time for the new challenge at Birthday Sundaes. The challenge this week is to create a birthday card that has ribbon on it. Pretty easy. I wanted to create a card for one of my guys that recently left to move to Georgia. It's sometime challenging to create a masculine card with ribbon.

I used the Week 4 Card sketch at Sassy Lil' Sketches. Another very versatile sketch. I'm going to miss Sassy Lil' Sketches. See their Friday post here.

And here is my take....

I hope you will share your card with us again this week. Be sure to include a sentiment on the front of your card. Take a look at the wonderful inspiration the design team came up with at BS.
