Swim - Stew's August Page

For my Week 51 page at Scrappin'-n-Chattin', I created the August page for Stew's calendar.  One more week and I will have created a page a week for 2 years.

I used this week's sketch at Sketch Inspiration to create this page.  The page was originally supposed to have 3 photos, but I really liked this sketch, so I eliminated 1 of the photos.....

We were so surprised at how much Tessa loved the water this year.  She would go into the creek every time she was out.

I am also entering this page at Frosted Designs, for the Day 9 of the 12 Days of Christmas Challenge.  The challenge is to use 9 pearls or sparkles.  There are 9 pearls on the page - 3 under the right photo, 1 in each of the 4 flowers and 2 stacked in the upper left corner.

Thanks for looking.  I hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas.

House Calendar - May Page

I have started creating the pages of our calendars for 2013.  Maybe I will be done before March this time.... I usually make 2 calendars one for my office and one for Stew's office.  This I am adding 1 more.  I am making the calendar for the house.

I started with the May page for the house calendar.  I was inspired by this week's sketch at Sketch Inspiration.

I wasn't sure I liked it when it was done.  But the more I passed by it, the more I liked it.

I am using this page as my Week 50 entry into the 52 Week Challenge at Scrappin'-n-Chattin'.  I have completed a page a week for a total of 102 weeks so far.  Wow...

I also entered this page into one of the monthly challenges at SnC.  The challenge is called Around, and we are asked to journal around the photo, an embellishment, the page, etc.  I journaled around the photos.

This week's challenge at Lasting Memories is Anything But Snow.  These photos were taken at the beginning of spring, so no snow here....

And I am entering 1 more challenge with this page.  Frosted Designs is doing 12 Days of Christmas challenges.  They have a bunch of great challenges.  I hope to join in most of them.  On this page I used 5 gold brads, which qualifies this page for the Day 5 Challenge of using 5 gold things.

Thanks for looking.  I hope to get a huge jump on these calendars this weekend.  Stop back by and see how far I get.

Happiness is....

Week #48 in the 52 Week Scrapping Challenge at Scrappin'-n-Chattin'.  I can't believe the year is almost over.

For my page this week, I used the great sketch at Sketch Inspiration.  I had taken a lot of picture of Willie with the new toy I got for him over the weekend.  So I was able to choose the perfect photos.

And here's my page....

This guy loves the camera.  The other 2 are getting better too.  I was also inspired by this week's challenge at Frosted Designs, Happiness is....  They asked to create a project that shows what make you happy.  When Willie has such fun playing, it makes me really happy....

Thanks for stopping by.....

Me Too

I created my page today for the 52 Week Challenge at Scrappin'-n-Chattin'.  I usually try to get the page done over the weekend or early in the week.  I just didn't have time this week.

I knew last Saturday what picture I was going to use for my page this week. I had taken our dog Harley to an agility trial last Saturday.  I usually don't only take 1 dog.  Willie was pretty jealous.  When I got home, we were all outside.  Willie went through the practice tunnel that was collapsed in the backyard.  He sat in the end of it just looking up at me.  Too funny.  Of course I didn't have my camera.  As a matter of fact it had been in the shop earlier that day, so I had to put it back together.  So I did.  Of course when I got back, Willie wasn't in the tunnel any more.  But being the perfect poser, I led him back to the tunnel and asked him to go through and sit when he got to the end.  He did.

To create my page, I used this week's sketch at Sketch Inspiration.  I loved it when I saw it.  And I thought some colorful Echo Park papers would be perfect for the layout.

I never think to flip the camera for a portrait photo, so I had to flip the sketch counterclockwise.

I used chipboard letters from 2 different Thickers packages for the title, so I am also entering this layout into the current Fabulous Friday Challenge at Frosted Designs to use Chipboard.

Thanks for stopping by.  Tomorrow is cleaning day.  My scrap room is TRASHED.

7 Months

I'm so glad I was able to create another layout tonight. This has been great therapy for me this week. And I am getting the old photos scrapped. This is another page of my mom.

For the layout I used this week's wonderful sketch at Sketch Inspiration. I loved how the inspiration layout used a variety of papers on the left side of the photo. It really inspired me to create this page.

This is a photo of my mom when she was 7 months old. I found it strange that the photo did not have the date the photo was taken. It said "Betty Jean, 7 months old, (May 21, 1929)". The date is her birth date.

I used a different K & Company collection, Life Journey. Still great for pages with these old photos.

I am using this page as my entry into the 52 Week Challenge at Scrappin'-n-Chattin'. I can't believe that I still haven't missed a week, in 58 weeks. I am also entering the page into SnC's Heart challenge, which is to include hearts on your page.

I am also entering this into this month's challenge at Scrap It Girl. The challenge is to show some love by including some hearts, XO's or do a layout about someone you love.

My Word For 2012

I was so impressed with everyone picking their words for the year and showing their favorite projects for the year. I had started a blog post, added to it a couple of times, but then deleted it without committing

One of Scrappin'-n-Chattin's challenges this month to is create a layout using your word for 2012 as the one word title. I wasn't sure that I was going to complete this challenge. But the more I thought about it, the more comfortable I got with my chosen word. I really don't like to share resolutions - it seems to welcome failure to me. I was feeling this was going to be the same situation. But my word is versatile, and how I am using it, will bring me nothing but success.

So what is my word?? TRY. I have found that just by thinking about this word, I become more productive. And I do have some goals in mind. And this is what my layout shows.

To create the layout, of course I needed a sketch. Now I had this layout planned out and was going to get it done on Saturday, in time to enter it into the Sketch #303 challenge at Sketch Inspiration. But I had a horrible time over the weekend not being able to access my photos to edit and print them. I was never in danger of loosing the photos, but I had to clear them off of my laptop. I was running out of space. I had them in 2 places on our external hard drive and on a flash drive for good measure. I had a hard time accessing the hard drive with Picasa. But now I have it under control. Here is the sketch:
I felt the sketch was perfect for what I had in mind. So I had to use it. I used it for both pages of this layout....

(Sorry about the photos. I am also trying a new system for taking photos, and it's not quite there yet.)

Here is the Page 1 by itself:

And the Page 2.

This may look like a confusing mess, but I am starting to really like it. I took some photos of different things I am using and have developed to help keep me on track. The last set of photos on Page 2 are a set of photos of my scrap space after the hurricane. I took them just before I started to clean up after things dried out. All of my stuff was up on every single horizontal surface. So in a nutshell I want to TRY to stay organized so that I can keep track of scrapping challenges, blog hops, etc., keep track of each of the dogs' progress toward titles and awards in agility and to make sure that I sign up for any trials I want to enter, keep track of (and meet) my deadlines at work, plan meals and shopping trips so that I can save money, and to get my room in a totally organized state (as well as a few other spots in the house). The scrap room obviously is not as bad as it appears in the photos. As a matter of fact it's very close to done. I just have to finish.

In addition to the SnC Word challenge, I am entering this layout into the 52 Week Challenge there. Here are a few of the other challenges that I followed:

Frosted Designs Fabulous Fridays - Use Vellum. I made several flowers and butterflies with vellum.
ScrapFit Weekend Warm-Up #23 - Use Kraft cardstock. I made some flowers with plain kraft paper and the background paper is DCWV The Playtime Stack with is all kraft cardstock based.
Flutter By Wednesday - Open challenge, use a butterfly, fairy or angel. I made vellum butterflies.
Hotshot Craft - Flower

Well, if you made it through my post, thank you. I hope everyone has a great week.

You and Me

Since Stew is working 2nd shift this weekend, I am using the time alone to work in the scrap room. I have completed 1 layout so far.

This one is based on this week's sketch at Sketch Inspiration. It's been a while since I have been able to participate at SI. I really like their sketches.

I chose a photo of Pete and Jenna taken at her mom's house earlier this year. I am going to use this layout as my 52 Weeks entry at Scrappin'-n-Chattin'. Finally, I won't be working at the last minute this week.

I am also going to enter this layout into the Wee Memories challenge for this week, which is Free for All. In addition, I am entering this week's sketch challenge at Sketches In Thyme which is and Open Challenge.

Now I'm off to think about another page... I hope everyone is having a scrappy weekend.

1954

Today I created a page that is not for a design team. I am using it for several challenges though.

I really wanted to join the Lasting Memories challenge this week. The challenge is Black and White - including the photos. I decided on Sunday when I saw the challenge that I wanted to use an older photo. I picked one of my father from 1954.

Next, I needed a sketch. I hadn't been able to do a layout for Sketch Inspiration in a while, so I checked there first. This will work.

Now I needed to come up with some embellishments. I checked other challenge site for some inspiration. On Frosted Designs, the Fabulous Friday challenge is to use punches on your project. I used 3 of my scalloped circle punches to create the lollipop flowers on the page.

And here's my page......

The photo was taken in Indianapolis. I don't know the circumstances. My aunt had given me a number of photos of my father when I was first married. I am so glad to have them.

I am also going to use this page as my 52 Week Challenge entry at the Yahoo Group Scrappin'-n-Chattin'. It will also be entered into the monthly challenges there as well. We are being challenged this month to enter layouts at challenge sites.

Thanks for looking.

Cherry Pie

Good morning everyone. This week's challenge at Lasting Memories is very a fun, easy one - You're the Boss!!! Use your style to create your layout. I can't wait to see what everyone creates.

We have another sponsor this week. Tiffany Doodles.

There are 3 prizes being offered:

  1. FIRST PRIZE = 5 digi's
  2. SECOND PRIZE = 3 digi's
  3. THIRD PRIZE = 2 digi's
Check out the site for all of the digi's Tiffany offers. She has a lot of very cute and versatile digis. Each design team member received a digi to use on her project this week. Check out each member's blog to see what they chose and how they used it.

The digi I chose for my project was cherries. To create the layout I used the sketch from last week for Sketch Inspiration, #209. I thought it has the perfect spot for my digi.

And here's my layout. This is a photo of one of our new cherry trees last year. We only had a couple of cherries last year. We sure hope it changes this year.

The complete title may be a little hard to see. I had to choose what photo I wanted to use a few weeks ago so I could select my digi. I was loving looking through the garden photos. I showed Stew what photo I was going to use and he said I should title the page "Not Quite Enough For A Cherry Pie". So that's what I used. Because of that, this layout qualifies for the March Long Title challenge at the Yahoo group Scrappin-n-Chattin. The title has to be at least 5 words long.

I hope that you will let us see your style this week. Your layout is due linked to the LM blog by 9pm on March 12th. Have a wonderful and crafty week.

Katie in the Spring

I have been able to create quite a few pages this weekend. Today I completed one for the Sketch Inspiration , Sketch #110 that was posted today. This is the sketch:

The page I made was with a photo of Katie this past spring, early in the spring. She's in our side garden that is bursting with crocuses.

This page also qualified for the Collection Challenge on Scrappin'-n-Chattin'. The papers I used were from Making Memories Chloe's Closet collection. I also used some covered brads, and one flower brad from that line.
