Birthday Sundaes - Challenge #2

Wow, the response to our first challenge was awesome. I cannot believe how many wonderful birthday cards everyone submitted. So very exciting. I enjoyed looking at all of them. So much inspiration.

This week, in honor of the new season, the Birthday Sundaes challenge is to create a Spring Birthday card. I actually made 2 of these cards. I used the Wild Cards Cricut cartridge to make the cards and matching envelopes again. I'm so happy to be getting some use out of it now. I used DCWV Spring Stack paper and cardstock for all parts of the card. The Cricut got some more use making the flowers - Walk In My Garden cartridge.

I am also entering the cards into this week's challenge at The Creative Cottage. The challenge is Spring Has Sprung, using spring colors and elements. And the cards also qualify for the Happy Birthday challenge at Fantabulous Cricut. It's their birthday week. They are 1 year old.

Happy Valentine's Day and Blog Candy

This week at Lasting Memories, we would like Valentine's Day to be your inspiration. Your layout should include the colors red, white and/or pink. Pretty versatile, and fun. It took me a couple of days to figure out what photo(s) I wanted to use for this challenge. I do have a couple of photos of my nephews that were taken on Valentine's Day when they were babies, but I was thinking more along the lines of a baby photo. So I looked through photos of the granddaughters. I chose a photo of Jessie. I had done several layouts of her from this day, but not with the particular photo. I followed the Creative Scrappers Sketch #141 for the jumping board for my page. Here is the sketch:

I found the placement of the embellishments on this sketch very interesting. I used my Cricut again this week. I used the Paper Lace cartridge for the 2 heart borders at the bottom of the photo. I'm really enjoying this cartridge. This layout also qualifies for the Heart challenge at Scrappin-n-Chattin. The challenge was to use at least 3 hearts on a layout.

Cricut and/or Die Cuts

This week's challenge at Lasting Memories is a real fun one. How many of us got a Cricut cartridge or two for Christmas? I am very excited to say that I did. As a matter of fact, I got 4!! My kids did real good. The challenge this week is to use your Cricut, or other die cuts if you don't have a Cricut.

To create my layout, I followed this week's sketch at Sketchy Thursdays. I really enjoyed this sketch and knew what I wanted to use for my die cuts. Here is the sketch....


Even though I got 4 new cartridges for Christmas, I didn't use any of them for this layout. My friends at Scrappin-n-Chattin are real good about informing the group of sales. Someone pointed us to a site last week that had cartridges on sale for around $16. I ordered 3. I used 2 of them on my page.


For the yellow and light green background, I used the Paper Lace cartridge. I can see I will get a lot of use out of that cartridge. For the title I used Alphalicious. That one has been on my wishlist for a while. I also used 2 Martha Stewart Monarch punches to create the butterlies on the page. The colors I used were chosen to coincide with the Super Bowl challenge at SnC. The challenge was to create a layout using the colors of one of the teams in the Superbowl. I chose Green Bay's colors.

Favorites

I did not create as much as I would have liked during my time off this week. I did relax and did some organization in the office. It's getting close to being done. It's so much more pleasant working in there when it's clean. I managed to get the tree up this week. I wanted to have it up before David left. I hope to get a picture of him in front of it today or tomorrow before he leaves. I photographed the progress as I put the tree up. I even took some photos of my favorite ornaments. I used these photos to create a page this afternoon. I used this week's sketch at Sketchy Thursdays as my base for the page.


For some of the elements I followed the challenge this week at The Paper Variety. The Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge is so much fun. We had to create a project with 3 items in a row.


I actually followed 2 Tic-Tac-Toes. I followed the row across the top, and diagonally from top left to lower right.


The layout contains 3 photos. The diamonds that form the title banner are cut from my Cricut, the Jasmine cartridge. The photos and the papers (Echo Park's Merry Christmas) are in the holiday theme.

This page also qualifies for this week's challenge at Design Dollies - Layer upon layer upon layer... The project was to include at least 5 layers. I chose to display these layers on my most favorite ornament - my little angel. This is an ornament I received as a child in 1965. It is triple matted with 2 background papers behind it.

I am using this layout for the Sparkle challenge for Scrappin-n-Chattin. The challenge is to add glitter, bling, gems, etc. on your layout. I added a couple of rhinestones above the ornament sticker as well as sparkly string on the ornament and the banner.

It felt good to create. I am optimistic that I will get another layout or 2 done this weekend. Thanks for looking.

Halloween Cards

I have never made a Halloween card before, but I made 2 today. They were quite fun. I am going to send them to my nephews with the treat containers that I made for them.

This first card I made following the challenge at Jitterbuggin'. The challenge this week was to follow the sketch, include a cricut cut, emboss something and include a pumpkin on the card. The spider and web were cut from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge. I used 2 different Cuttlebug embossing folders to emboss the circle and the orange paper along the right side of the card. The next card I am entering into the Paper Kutz Challenge this week. The challenge is to create a Halloween project - a card, layout, or other craft project using circles, starts, diamonds or crescents. The bat and the cat were also cut from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge.

Halloween Treat Contatiners

This week at The Paper Variety they hare having A Sweet Challenge. The challenge is to create a project to be used for treats - a container, tag, topper, etc. What a fun project.

I created a couple of container for my nephews filled with Halloween candy. I used my Tags, Bags, Boxes and Bows Cricut cartridge to cut the container and used Paper Doll Dress Up to cut the cat and bat I used as tags. I sure hope they like them.

Sweet Dreams

I hope that everyone is having a wonderful Sunday/Mother's Day. I went out to lunch with my youngest son today. We had some great food at Panera. I finally felt like working in the scrap room this afternoon, so I put together this layout that I have been contemplating for the last several days.

These are photos of David and Willie from early April. David sat down with him and he just fell sound asleep in David's arms. I based the layout on this week's Sketchy Thursdays sketch. I really liked it when I saw it, and pretty much decided that day what photos I would use. The sketch was also perfect the the half circle challenge at SnC this month.


I used my Create a Critter Cricut cartridge for the first time today. The title, little lamb and the moon and stars are cut from this cartridge. There are so many cute things on it. I think I will be using it a lot.
